Director Higashi Kahori, whose feature debut film Melting Sounds garnered attention at the 17th Osaka Asian Film Festival and elsewhere, has adapted the novel of the same title by her mother, Higashi Naoko, who is a poet and writer.
The person in charge of "Belonging" appears before people whose lives had ended and asks them, "Do you have any unfulfilled desires in this world? If you do, you can turn into something and come back." Each of them becomes an object and spends time by the side of their loved ones: a wife decides to become her husband's favorite mug, a grandmother becomes the camera she gave to her grandson, and so on.
