Director Kichitaro Negishi brings to the screen the "phantom screenplay" written 40 years ago by screenwriter Yozo Tanaka. A story about the youthful days of genius poet Nakahara Chūya, actress Hasegawa Yasuko, and literary critic Kobayashi Hideo.
In the Taisho era (1912-1926), 20-year-old Yasuko (Hirose Suzu) and 17-year-old Nakahara (Kido Daisho) meet in Kyoto and begin living together. Later, Kobayashi (Okada Masaki) visits the couple's house when they move to Tokyo. Eventually, he also discovers Yasuko's charm, and a complicated love triangle begins...
