Original screenplay by Suzuki Osamu who wrote a very popular non-fiction, Busu no hitomi ni koi shiteru. Directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu, who has created a number of high-profile TV adverts and recently began directing TV dramas and promotion videos. This is his first feature film.
Takuro (Tsukaji Muga), who runs a diner restaurant, "KOKORO-YA", is fat and ugly, but as he is gentle-hearted and good at his job, he has a lot of good friends if not female friends. One day, a very pretty girl called Hiroko (Kitagawa Keiko) comes to the restaurant as a part-timer. Hiroko is kind to Takuro, and he plucks up the courage to let her know his feelings, but fails miserably. Takuro feels down, then he is approached by a mystery man and obtains a "handsome suit", which transforms the wearer into a handsome man by just wearing it. Takuro becomes a top model named Annin (Tanihara Shosuke), and begins a new life pampered by women. His try-on version of the handsome suit, however, has shortcomings, one of which is that it is easily affected by hot water. He scurries to the mystery man for help. There he is told that once he wears the real suit, rather than the try-on version, he can never take it off. Takuro makes up his mind to live the rest of his life as the handsome man. Then he realizes that there is no real happiness there for him, and he goes back to his ugly self to lead a heart-warming life.
