[ Story ]
Popular manga artist, Matsumoto Taiyo's table tennis comic springs into motion with a liberal use of computer graphics.
Peco (Kubozuka Yosuke) and Smile (ARATA) are old childhood friends who belong to their school ping-pong club. Peco has his sights set on becoming the world champion, while Smile says he plays ping-pong to pass the time. However, their coach (Takenaka Naoto) has his eyes on Smile, not Peco. After he's crushed across the board to supposedly weaker opponents in a tournament, Peco quits the game. Smile turns inwards, and tries to lose himself in practice. Then Peco starts playing again, and devotes himself to training too. When the two meet again in competition, Peco advances to the semi-finals, but his injured leg will take him no further. Everyone suggests he should drop out, but he keeps playing, saying that Smile is waiting for him. Peco beats Kazama (Nakamura Shido), last year's champion, and advances to the final to play Smile. Smile greets him with, "Welcome back, hero."
