[ Story ]

A spin-off film of the Death Note diptych which was hugely successful not just in Japan but in the whole of Asia including Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand. Directed by Nakata Hideo, a leading figure in Japanese horror movies which have stormed the world. He made his Hollywood debut with The Ring 2.
Yagami Light (Fujiwara Tatsuya) acquired the Death Note, which was dropped by shinigami (god of death). Anyone whose name is written in the Note dies. Since then Light has carried out a purge of criminals who had escaped justice. As a result, people refer to him as ‘Kira' and deify him. An international master detective, L (Matsuyama Kenichi), reasons that ‘Kira' must be in Japan, and confronts Light to stop ‘Kira' getting out of control. Meanwhile a small village in Thailand far away from Japan disappears completely. Behind the incident were glimpses of a Japanese organization attempting to control the ‘god of death' which has been created by humans. L takes the ultimate decision to stop ‘Kira', and has only 23 days left. L uses these final days frantically racing around trying to save humanity from extinction.
