[ Story ]
Based on a true story that garnered attention across Japan, this offbeat comedy follows the exploits of a marriage swindler who deceived a string of women between the 1970s to the 1990s by pretending to be a US Navy captain. Popular actor Sakai Masato, who has appeared in consecutive hits including Climber's High and The Chef of South Polar, stars in the lead role. Matsuyuki Yasuko of Hula Girls leads the cast of beautiful women surrounding Kuhio. Crazy Ken Band, who count director Aki Kaurismaki among their overseas fans, provide the film's amusing theme song. "Jonathan Elizabeth Kuhio" claims to be an American Navy captain descended from Hawaiian King Kamehameha and the British Royal Family, while he's in fact a purely Japanese marriage swindler. Despite being an obvious phony with his broken English and questionable navy uniform, Kuhio busily cons a string of women beginning with bento shop owner Shinobu (Matsuyuki) and museum curator Haru (Mitsushima Hikari). He attempts to amass a total of 100 million yen from the women, but Shinobu's younger brother suspects something is up.
