[ Story ]

Produced with a scholarship from the PiaFilm Festival, the showcase for young directors in Japan, this is Naito Takatsugu's first feature-length film. With exquisite offbeat timing, it depicts the trials in love of a taciturn, lackluster middle-aged man. Starring is stage veteran Kote Shinya, whose hardboiled poses and dubious lines produce a unique, melancholic eccentricity.
Manzo (Kote), a fisherman in a declining port town, is a forlorn bachelor, living alone at 38. He decides to get serious about finding a mate and attends a town-sponsored matchmaking party, but his tacky dress and clumsy manner doom him to failure. Then one day, Manzo encounters Mitsuko (Miyamoto Yuko), a beautiful woman with a past. She is caring for Masao (Hirooka Kazuki), the son of a former lover, and she's at her wit's end. Big-hearted Manzo takes the two in. Suddenly, Manzo has the warm, lively household he has been longing for, and he is filled with happiness. But…
