[ Story ]

Starring Kabuki actor Ichikawa Somegoro and popular Korean talents such as singer Younha, this warm and relaxed film from Director Kemmochi Satoki (who was awarded Best New Director by the All Nippon Producers Association in 1999) portrays the gradually deepening friendship between a foreign exchange student and a middle-aged man.
So-ra (Younha), a female high-school student living in Seoul, receives a video camera that she uses to exchange video letters with an older student studying in Tokyo. Reacting strongly against her mother's remarriage, she decides to go to Tokyo to study film at the same university as this student, whom she has feelings for. But once she gets there, she finds he's returned to Korea. So-ra has difficulties adapting to life in Japan, and finds herself several months later feeling unmotivated to pursue her filming. Around this time, however, she begins to notice a somewhat disheveled-looking middle-aged man, Matsumoto (Ichikawa), a part-time worker who always seems to be falling asleep. Curious, she begins to film him as her subject for a class project. Working every waking moment to try and save money for his far-away son, he puts his deep feelings into his work—discovering happiness in something as simple as collecting discarded bottles of glass. As for So-ra, her newfound connection with Matsumoto allows her to smile again.
