This is the first time the highly praised stage play "The Black Cat," which was shown at the New National Theatre The Pit in December 2008, has appeared on screen. This is a bold retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's masterful short story, and the director has created a dark fantasy by interweaving the story with creative direction of visual imagery. Machiko, who is partially blind due to the accident in an apartment complex that she lives alone which houses some foreigners. Her son dies in that tragic and unexpected accident and she hides the body inside a wall, which she then plasters over. But strangely, the plaster stain on the wall begins to take the shape of a black cat.
