The fourth remake of the play (of the same name) by Tanizaki Junichiro. Co-directed by the Japanese pink film industry (soft porn) genius Imaoka Shinji and Aizome Kyoko who starred in the 1981 and 1987 remakes by Takechi Tetsuji, and scripted by Izuchi Kishu. Called in for a burglary investigation, policeman Kurahashi (Osaka Shunsuke) falls in love with dental assistant Chieko (Saijo Misaki). Kurahashi's imagination runs wild with fantasies of an affair with Chieko. However, Kurahashi learns of the secrets of Chieko's past and her extramarital affair with the dentist. He becomes obsessed in trying to help her and starts to lose his grip of reality.
