[ Story ]
Based on Hashimoto Tsumugu's light novel which has been adapted into manga, anime, and TV drama series. The story revolves around a pure-hearted boy and a girl with a terminal disease. The film is directed by Fukagawa Yoshihiro, whose independent films have been gaining recognition leading to him winning at the Pia Film Festival Awards in 2001. The highlights of the film are his talent for directing and the performance of the promising young cast. High school student Yuichi (Ikematsu Sousuke) meets a book-loving girl named Rika (Kutsuna Shioli) at the hospital he is staying in. Rika has heart disease. Being a little demanding at times, she can be a handful, but Yuichi takes good care of her. The doctor, however, is not happy about them seeing each other.
