A documentary about a maternity clinic in Aichi prefecture, shot over a year with a handheld 16mm camera by director Kawase Naomi, winner of the Camera d'or for Suzaku (Moe no Suzaku) and the Grand prix for The Mourning Forest (Mogari no Mori) at the Cannes Film Festival. The Yoshimura clinic still carries out traditional natural childbirth and is set up in an Edo period Japanese house, surrounded by forest. The documentary captures the thoughts and inner conflicts of the women who choose natural childbirth, including a patient who tearfully speaks of the trauma of her first delivery, and the doctor and midwives who look after them.
