[ Story ]
This light-hearted feature debut from director Ogigami Naoko gained a Special Mention at the 2004 Berlin International Film Festival.
In a picturesque rural village, everyone has their hair cut at the local barbershop - the only one - by the fearsome Yoshiko (Motai Masako). Without exception, all the local boys are required to sport the hairdresser's proprietary bowl-shaped "Yoshino Cut", which is a long-standing town tradition. However, when trendy transfer student Yosuke (Ishida Noritsugu) arrives on the scene, his fashionably dyed and coiffed locks ruffle the community's clean-cut consensus as the local boys start questioning the status quo. Yoshiko fights back by implementing school gate hairstyle checkpoints and monopolizing the village's public address system, but Yosuke's individualism proves to be highly infectious. Soon Yoshiko's sons Keita (Yoneda Ryo) and Yaji (Okawa Shota) are forced to choose between their mother's conformism and the exhilarating freedom represented by their new friend.
