[ Story ]
The second film in the RAILWAYS series of odes to the human condition that use trains as their central motif. A middle-aged married couple who have reached a crossroads in their lives find themselves on the verge of divorce due to their differing outlooks on life. Set around a regional railway line in Toyama Prefecture, it features the beautiful local scenery and several actual active locomotives. Train driver Toru (Miura Tomokazu) has devoted forty-two years of his life to his job, but is now one month away from retirement. He decides to dedicate the rest of his life to his wife Sawako (Yo Kimiko), but then she declares that she is returning to the nursing career she gave up when they got married.
