[ Story ]
A documentary in which manga creator and atomic bombing survivor Nakazawa Kenji tells the story of his own life. "Barefoot Gen", his manga based on his experiences during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, is a widely-known bestseller that has been read by children and adults across generations. On August 6th 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. Six-year-old Nakazawa Kenji miraculously survived, but he lost his father, older sister, and younger brother, as well as his younger sister who was born after the bombing. He eventually became a manga artist, and after his mother's death from radiation disease, he began to create a manga about the atomic bombing.
