[ Story ]
On Christmas Eve, the lights in Tokyo suddenly go out and the city is plunged into darkness. It soon becomes apparent that Tokyo and the surrounding areas have all been affected by an enormous power failure. Nozomi (Tabata Tomoko), who works in a candle shop, brings her left over candles to the bar opposite her place. This bar, called "Wish" is run by a man named Kido (Toyokawa Etsushi). Although this is the first time he has ever spoken to Nozomi, Kido begins to tell her about the love of his life. Meanwhile, other dramas are taking place all over the city: a businessman torn between his wife and his lover; a former Yakuza and a pregnant woman trapped on an underground train; a group of children who have escaped from a hospital. All over the dark city the lives of 12 people are changed over the course of the evening. Something about the magical darkness will bring out long buried secrets and confessions.
The film was inspired by a TV documentary project about the 2003 power black-outs in America and Canada, by the same director, Minamoto Takashi.
