[ Story ]
A coming-of-age film, set along the Route 42 national highway linking the mythologically-rich Ise and Kumano regions, that follows a man and woman who come to terms with the sadness they bear as they journey together. Its young cast members, including Takaoka Sosuke of The Millennial Rapture and Kikuchi Akiko of Chronicle of My Mother, give vibrant performances.
Tatsuya (Takaoka) loses his fiancee Yoko (Kikuchi) in an accident, and contemplates suicide. One day, he meets a woman named Yuri (Kikuchi) who is the spitting image of Yoko. She invites Tatsuya on a journey to "Ne no Kuni" (the land of roots), another name for the underworld.
