Directorial debut by Chitose Chihiro, who studied with director Hara Kazuo and served as assistant director to directors Shinohara Tetsuo and Kuroki Kazuo. Calls for improving Japan-China relations through intimately depicting the turbulent life of a woman working as a taxi driver who comes from the second generation of Japanese left in China after the war.
Yamada Shizuka has lived for 22 years in Japan, the homeland of her mother, who was left behind in China after World War II. She's gotten divorced in China and Japan, and has raised 4 children by different fathers. Suffering from kidney problems, she decides to visit her mother's grave and returns home to China with her children.
