[ Story ]
A human drama that portrays a junior high school girl who distrusts people and refuses to go to school, but gradually regains herself through friendly interaction with the islanders. Directed by Matsushima Tetsuya, and based on 'Maburai no Shima' by Takeuchi Hiroko. "Goya Chanpuru" is home-style cuisine from the Okinawan islands; a stir-fry with Goya.
A junior high school girl, Hiromi (Tabe Mikako) lives with her grandparents. Her father died in an accident, and her mother (Fubuki Jun) left Hiromi when she was two and went to Iriomotejima Island. Hiromi is bullied at junior high school. Unable to trust people at all, Hiromi cocoons herself in her home. Having closed her mind, her only inspiration are the e-mails that she exchanges with a young man named Ken (Takeda Kohei). Hiromi met Ken on an internet notice board, and he lives on Iriomotejima Island. One day, Hiromi musters up enough courage to go out of her room in order to meet Ken and her mother. The people on the island welcome her warmly. Having experienced the warmth of people, Hiromi opens up her heart and regains the strength to live.
