Family drama produced to commemorate the 70th year anniversary of the end of World War II. Film adaptation of a children's story that is frequently included in textbooks. Director Isomura Itsumichi won the Feature Drama Award at the 9th International Family Film Festival for Her Island, My Island.
Seven paulownia trees stand in a small village in Nagano Prefecture. They were carefully tended to by Tamura Mitsu (Suzuki Kyoka), who once lived in the village. She planted a tree in her garden each time one of the seven children she'd raised on her own was sent away to the battlefront…
