[ Story ]

Kikunosuke is one of the street rogues led by Nipponzaemon whose ostensible trade is pawnbroking. However, their real business is blackmail and in order to deceive people on one occasion Kikunosuke disguises himself as a beautiful girl and on another as the page of a nobleman.
Eventually he falls in love with an innocent girl, but parts from her in the belief that he is unworthy of her love and now desires to become an honest man.
Finding by chance that he is the abandoned son of Hamamatsuya a wealthy merchant who with his daughter are being victimized by certain officials, Kikunosuke makes up his mind to do a good deed for once, even if it means risking his life by defeating the forces of evil, and help his real father and sister without disclosing his identity.
