[ Story ]
Fusa Yoshino's only ambition in life is to care for her ancestral estate on the outskirts of Tokyo. By her first husband she has a lovely daughter name Kikue, while from her deceased second husband she has another daughter, named Keiko, who is just as good-looking as her older sister. The postwar Agricultural Reform Law deprived Fusa Yoshino of most of her farm lands and she then became a florist, erecting a row of hothouses with money borrowed from Kichizo Tanimura, a former tenant now a successful real estate broker.
Kikue left the Yoshino home several years ago to study dancing while Keiko diligently helps her mother, but is restless as she does not wish to waste her youth on the farm. Her confidant is Tadao Shimizu, an enthusiastic young florist whom her mother has brought up like her own son after the death of his father, and who lives on the estate with his deaf-mute sister Kaoru. Anxious to repay Fusa for all her kindness to him and his sister yet Tadao cannot help falling in love with Keiko.
