[ Story ]

Tomi (Akemi Negishi) has taken up with one man after another but unable to hold on to one. At nineteen, she bore Yumi (Mari Atsumi) out of wedlock and now Yumi is going to dressmaking school.
Tomi is supporting Yoshimura (Ryoichi Tamagawa) as she had his predecessors but she knows the guests where she works only tolerate her because she is the friend of the Madame (Sanae Nakahara). It is Yumi who eases all these disappointments and hard knocks in life.
So when Tomi hears that Yoshimura forced himself on Yumi, she kills him. After her mother goes to prison, Yumi becomes a hostess. But when she almost falls into a gangster's trap, Nozawa (Yosuke Kawazu), the manager of a nightclub in Ginza rescues her and takes her to his place.
At his club, Yumi becomes an instant success. Men try to coax her to hotels, but she plays poker with them first. If she wins, the men must pay her a lot for each game. If she loses, she will sleep with them. Yumi hardly ever loses but when she does, keeps her promise.
The poker games end when someone tells the police. Then Kada (Ko Nishimura), the club owner and a widower, offers Yumi to become his mistress. She has slept with men for money but the only man she loves is Nozawa.
She hopes Nozawa will marry her but when he refuses out of deference to Kada, she becomes Kada's mistress. When he dies suddenly, Nozawa makes Yumi pregnant so that she can claim Kada's fortune for the child she claims is his. After all they have been through, Nozawa grows to love Yumi but…
