[ Story ]

On the night of the Fukagawa Festival, Torajiro Hirata, boss of the Tomoe Gang, stabbed to death Taizo Matsuyama, one of the chiefs of the Kanto Motsumonji Gang.
On his release from prison eighteen years later, he visits the house of Matsumonji, and learns that Ryota, the eldest son of the man he killed, has become a henchman of Yoshino, now head of the Nambata Gang. From Kira, who has remained loyal to the Matsuyama family, Torajiro also learns that Kenji, the second son, has become an ordinary wage earner and that Saburo, the third son, is a student at a music academy. They have no desire for vengeance.
Compared with the rather timid Ryota and the studious Saburo, Kenji is unstable and keeps his sweetheart, Keiko Ejima, in a constant state of worry.
One evening, he takes Keiko to a cabaret operated by his elder brother, Ryota, and gets into a fight with the Nambata Gang. And the next-day his employer, Keiko's father, fires him for taking his daughter to a cabaret.
Meanwhile, Saburo falls in love with Chidori Yoshino, daughter of the boss of the Nambata Gang.
Nambata begins to put pressure on Ryota to control his younger brother. He also taunts Ryota about a singer named, Emi and in what is tantamount to an order, suggests he "sell him" the right to his girl.
When Kenji comes to the cabaret he calls Ryota a coward, and then goes to the stage and begins to sing. Emi is enraptured, and Kenji goes to her apartment, where they spend the night together.
When Nambata tries to prevent Kenji from opening a gambling house he finds it surrounded by policemen. Ryota and Kenji manage to escape the police cordon, but they are arrested the following day.
When Chidori and Saburo run away from home, Nambata demands that Ryota find them, and swears he will kill Saburo if he has ruined his daughter.
Torajiro Hirata, he has an exceptional interest in these happenings for he is Chidori's real father, having left her in Yoshino's care when he was sent to prison.
And although Ryota brings them back Nambata is determined to kill both Saburo and Kenji. He calls for a showdown and the three brothers go to the appointed place and face the Nambata Gang.
