[ Story ]
Jiro, a painter is in love with Hisako, who works at the Ginza-ya, a dressmaking store. His friend is Miyamoto, a pianist, with whom he shares a room. Both are striving to get ahead in their professions, and Jiro is painting the girl he loves.
One day, Jiro rescues Noriko, who turns out to be a police-woman, from a group of hoodlums. They become friendly, and Hisako in jealousy turns her attention to Miyamoto. But Jiro and Hisako finally decide they are meant for each other and the day is set for her to meet Jiro's mother in the country. But she is struck by a car in a traffic accident and disappears from Jiro's life. Miyamoto also leaves after an argument.
Later Jiro accidentally meets Miyamoto who is now living in a luxurious apartment and it transpires that his wealth comes from selling fake Scotch Whisky. When Jiro recognizes Hisako's voice over the loud speaker of a department store, he finds she is working under a different name and has lost her memory because of the accident.
But the portrait of Hisako which Miyamoto brings to her room before he is arrested, and which is later displayed in Jiro's one-man exhibition restores her memory, and she and Jiro are together - for always.
