[ Story ]
During the Manchurian War, Private Mikami falls in love with one of the prostitutes attached to his barracks, but his officer, jealous that his love seems returned, puts him in jail. During a Chinese attack, both the soldier and the girl are cut off and this results in his being branded a deserter. The girl pleads with the commander but to no avail. Stealing a grenade she goes to her lover and urges him to escape with her. He prefers death to disgrace, however, and both die. When the officer realizes that both were true patriots he dismisses the charges against the dead private.
