[ Story ]

A mega action movie with total production costs of over two billion yen, which adapted an antick comic by Tezuka Osamu, a master in the comic world in Japan, to a live-action film. The original story is set in the period of civil wars in Japan, but this has been changed to a mystical setting, creating a universal story.
A military chieftain, Daigo Kagemitsu borrows strength from 48 demons in order to unify the war-torn era, and makes a promise to offer his son to them when he is born. The baby is born but deprived of 48 parts of his body, including limbs, eye, nose and mouth, and Kagemitsu abandons this tragic looking baby.
Twenty years later, Hyakkimaru (Tsumabuki Satoshi) is fighting demons with swords embedded in his arms. He is on his journey with Dororo (Shibasaki Kou), a thief who is after the sword in his left arm, to defeat the demons who took his body parts and to repossess them. He learns about his father, who offered his body to demons. The two, Hyakkimaru and Dororo, finally stand face to face with Hyakkimaru's father, who is also Dororo's foe.
Directed by Shiota Akihiko of RESURRECTION(Yomigaeri).
