The film adaptation of Sumino Yoru's identically titled bestselling novel. The film depicts events twelve years into the "present" not found in the novel, intermingling the two timelines of "past" and "present".
I (Oguri Shun) became a teacher because of what my high school classmate, Sakura said to me. I remember those days spent with Sakura. Twelve years ago I (Kitamura Takumi) found Sakura's (Hamabe Minami) diary detailing her battle with a pancreatic illness and little by little we began to spend more time together. However, those splendid days would eventually end.
