Japan-China co-production about monk Kukai and poet Hakurakuten as they tackle a tremendous mystery that shakes Chang'an, based on author Yumemakura Baku‘s "Samon kukai tou no kuni nite oni to utagesu". Directed by Farewell My Concubine's Chen Kaige.
China in the Tang Dynast y. Kukai (Sometani Shota) is dispatched on a mission from Japan and gets to know poet Hakurakuten (Huang Xuan). Meanwhile, leaders in the city keep dying one after another. Kukai and Hakurakuten delve into the series of events and come up against a tremendous mystery.
