The follow-up to the hit thriller which ended up earning 1.9 billion yen at the box office. Both director Nakata Hideo and screenwriter Oishi Tetsuya return for this sequel. Based on the second book 'Smartphone wo Otoshita dake nanoni Toraware no Satsujinki' in the original series by author Shiga Akira, this film traces the outcome of a new crime which occurs several months after the events of the first film.
Several months following the serial murder case, a new corpse is discovered in the very same crime scene. Detective Kagaya (Chiba Yudai) once again confronts Urano (Narita Ryo), the imprisoned serial killer he arrested, in order to uncover the truth.
