[ Story ]
Out in the Sea of Japan rises the populated island of Tobishima. This documentary chronicles the day-to-day life of the people living there. It is co-directed by Omiya Koichi of TAIDAMA–I'm home, a place for everyone and Tanaka Kei of Under the Cherry Tree.
On Tobishima where population decline and aging continue to advance, there are approximately 140 residents. With the lone middle-schooler about to graduate, the Tobishima Elementary/Middle School will temporarily close even as young people are also returning the island. What is truly essential for people to live? The camera records the final year of the Heisei Era.
