Coming-of-age drama based on a real story involving the cheer song handed down in Funabashi Municipal High School, Chiba Prefecture. Screenplay author Nakai Yuriko adapts her own novel, which she based on years of interviews.
Asano Taigi (Kamio Fuju) belongs to the brass band and tries composing a pep song for the baseball team after being encouraged by Takahashi (Sato Koichi), the teacher in charge of the club. His song "Ichifuna Soul" soon takes on legendary status. Taigi then goes to college to study music, but his body succumbs to illness.
