[ Story ]

A new film, after an absence of four years, by Toyoda Toshiaki, the director known for such films as Pornostar, Blue Spring, and Hanging Garden. With the legend of "Oguri Hangan" from the Kumano region as its inspiration, the film creates an allegorical world beyond time and space, straddling the realms of the living and the dead. The film stars Nakamura Tatsuya, formerly of the rock band Blankey Jet City. Costars include Kusakari Mayuu, daughter of the actor Kusakari Masao.
It is an age before humans exerted dominance over the world. The ruler of the dark world, the Lord (Shibukawa Kiyohiko), summons the renowned masseur Oguri (Nakamura) to treat his incurable illness. Oguri is indispensable to the Lord, who fears death. But Oguri's healthy body arouses the Lord's envy, while Oguri's unwillingness to pledge fidelity provokes his ire, and the Lord dispatches Oguri to the realm of the dead. Oguri returns to the realm of the living with an unmoving body and heart. Meanwhile, the princess Terute (Kusakari) has secretly fallen in love with Oguri, and to bring about his rebirth in human form, she heads for the "spring of rebirth" at the edge of the world.
