[ Story ]
Director Ishihara Shigeru, known for the many television historical dramas he has worked on, including the Onihei Hankacho (Onihei Judgment Report) and Kenkaku Shobai (Sword for Hire) series, has brought Naoki Award-winning author Furukawa Kaoru's novel "Yoshida Shoin no Koi (The Love of Yoshida Shoin)" to the big screen. This marks the acting debut of actress and scriptwriter Konoe Hana, the daughter of actor Meguro Yuki and the niece of actor Matsukata Hiroki. The story takes place in the Choshu domain before the fall of the Tokugawa shogunate in the late 19th century. Female prisoner Takasu Hisa (Konoe) meets Yoshida Torajiro -- the future Yoshida Shoin (Maeda Michiyoshi) -- in jail, and is greatly impressed by his character; although he is imprisoned, he is nevertheless full of hope and holds firm to his beliefs.
