[ Story ]

Three families rent a lakeside summer cottage and invite a home tutor along for an intensive study session, to get their children into top class junior high schools. One of the fathers, Namiki, comes along with his wife, Minako, although he is skeptical about putting the children through the whole ordeal of junior high school entrance examinations. Then Namiki's lover, Eriko, turns up at the resort. That night Namiki visits Eriko, but she doesn't show up. When he returns to the cottage, he finds all the parents in a state of shock, standing around Eriko's dead body. They inform him that his wife, Minako, killed her. Afraid of the possible scandal, they decide to throw the corpse into the lake. Reluctantly, Namiki agrees, but he doesn't believe that Minako is the killer. When he finds out that Eriko was blackmailing the teacher, he begins to suspect the home tutor of murder. However, the real murderer is the very last person on anyone's list of suspects.
The film is adapted from a mystery novel of the same title by Higashino Keigo and directed by EUREKA and Tsukino Sabaku (Desert Moon) director, Aoyama Shinji.
