Kosaka Kitaro, an animation director on the Golden Bear winning film, Spirited Away, makes his directorial debut with this animated film, depicting the heated battle between male cyclists at one of top three bicycle racing tournaments, Vuelta A España.
Pepe, who belongs to the corporate cycling team of a beer company, faces losing his position due to his sluggish record. There's also the added pressure of racing in front of his hometown, which the race is named after. On top of that, today is the wedding day of his ex-girlfriend to his elder brother. Pepe has been completely devoting himself to the tournament to escape the emotional scars on his broken heart. However, he is ordered by his coach to assist his teammate in securing a better position in the race. Pepe breaks out of the crowd and takes the lead as part of the strategy, but his teammate runs into a stray cat and unexpectedly crashes. Pepe's long and isolated battle has just begun.
