[ Story ]
A surreal road movie set in the Edo period and the feature film debut of Kudo Kankuro, the well-known actor and scriptwriter for films such as Go and Ping Pong. Adapted from the comic book of the same title by Shiriagari Kotobuki, which in turn was inspired by the Edo era comic book 'Tokai dochu hizakurige (Shank's Mare)' by Jippensha Ikku.
Yaji (Nagase Tomoya) and Kita (Nakamura Shichinosuke) are gay lovers who live in the city of Edo. Kita-san is a drug addict who has completely lost touch with "reality". To cure Kita-san of his drug addiction and to discover the nature of the elusive "reality", they set off on a pilgrimage to the Ise Shrine. Their journey will take them to the weirdest places: a toll-gate through which only comedians can pass, and an inn where talking is not allowed and the guests have to sing. To add to their troubles, they find themselves wanted by the police when Yaji's wife turns up dead. Gradually, Yaji and Kita's strange journey strays into a bizarre world between reality and illusion.
