[ Story ]

The first part of the "Golden Age Arc" series of film adaptations of Miura Kentaro's eponymous manga that is gaining fans around the world. The adventures of mercenaries in a fictional world modeled on medieval Europe are brought to the screen by animation production house Studio 4°C, known for its work on Tekkonkinkreet.
A lone swordsman named Guts wields a giant blade and roams from battlefield to battlefield. One day he is discovered by Griffith, the leader of mercenary group Band of the Hawk, and becomes one of them. As he survives several rendezvous with death, the bonds between him and his comrades grow stronger.
