[ Story ]
Drama based on historical facts of the period when Japan annexed Korea. Depicts the life of Asakawa Takumi, a real-life figure who went to Korea in 1914 and devoted himself to greenery projects in the mountains, and was also passionate about introducing Korean crafts. Director Takahashi Banmei is famed for his dramas based on true stories.
In 1914, forestry engineer Asakawa (Yoshizawa Hisashi) lands in the capital of the Korean peninsula. In an era typified by Japanese discrimination against Koreans, Asakawa, who has started working at a forestry laboratory, is free from prejudice and cultivates a friendship with his Korean colleague Cheong-lim (Bae Soo-bin).
