[ Story ]
A live-action adaptation of Watsuki Nobuhiro's sword-action manga that has sold a total of over 57 million copies, been translated in 23 countries, and also inspired an animated series. A slight and mild-mannered young man who was once an assassin working for anti-Shogunate forces vows to abandon killing after the Meiji Revolution, and devotes his sword-wielding talents to helping others. The film features an abundance of tricky action scenes, and grossed over 3 billion yen in Japan.
In the 11th year of the Meiji Period (1878), a woman named Kaoru (Takei Emi) who runs a sword training dojo barely escapes death at the hands of a monstrous figure who calls himself Battosai the Killer, thanks to the red-headed Kenshin (Satoh Takeru). However, the true identity of the legendary, lethal Battosai is actually none other than Kenshin.
