[ Story ]

A live-action adaptation of a popular animated television series created by Tatsunoko Pro in 1972. It boldly alters the original alien invasion premise, and focuses on the anguish of five young people whose fates are intertwined. Its director is Sato Touya, known for his work on the "KAIJI" series.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the Earth is suddenly attacked by mysterious invaders and is partially destroyed in only seventeen days. The only people with the power to fight back are "receptors" who can harness the power of mysterious crystals. Ken (Matsuzaka Tori) and others are found to be receptors and undergo special training to take on the invaders as a resistance force called "Gatchaman."
