The first in a seven-part series of completely original live-action films continuing the "Patlabor" saga, a multimedia property created in the 1980s. It presents a humorous depiction of the everyday lives of members of the Patlabor Squad, who find themselves constantly waiting on standby since a drastic decrease in crimes involving humanoid robots called "Labors." Oshii Mamoru, who also helmed the animated version, acts as deneral director.
This chapter is comprised of two parts: "Episode 0: The Good Old Special Vehicle Section 2", in which maintenance crew chief Shiba (Chiba Shigeru) fondly reminisces about the past; and "Episode 1: Third Generation, Mobilize!", in which the squad takes on an industrial Labor in its first mission in quite some time.
