[ Story ]
A documentary about a couple's enduring love for each other, and their checkered lives at the mercy of turbulent times, namely the Pacific War and the Korean War. Memories of Taiwan director Sakai Atsuko shines a spotlight on renowned Korean painter Lee Joong-seop and his Japanese wife Yamamoto Masako.
In the 1940s, Masako, the daughter of a zaibatsu (industrial conglomerate) family, met foreign student Joong-seop at art school and fell in love with him. After risking their lives to marry, they were torn apart by war and poverty, but kept the flame of their love burning through exchanging around 200 letters.
