[ Story ]

Based on the original story by manga artist and Edo period lifestyles researcher Sugiura Hinako, and directed by COLORFUL's Hara Keiichi, Sarusuberi:Miss Hokusai depicts the complex relationship between world-renowned artist Katsushika Hokusai and his daughter O-Ei. Animation powerhouse Production I.G painstakingly rendered early 19th century Japan landscapes and customs.
The year is 1814. 23-year-old female ukiyo-e artist O-Ei (voice: Anne) spends her days creating artworks with her father Hokusai (voice: Matsushige Yutaka) in their garbage-loaded house-atelier. The film offers a multifaceted portrait of a free-spirited and utterly outspoken woman throughout the changing seasons.
