[ Story ]

Directed by Hara Keiichi, whose theater version of Crayon Shinchan Arashi wo Yobu Appare! Sengoku Daigassen received various awards in Japan. Based on a children's story of the same title. It depicts friendships and family love, as well as highlighting social issues in Japan, such as environmental pollution, excessive media coverage, and bullying.
A school boy Uehana Koichi finds an unusual looking stone on a river bank, and brings it home. When he washes the stone, a kappa (legendary water-based creature) comes out of the stone. Kenichi names the kappa Coo. Coo can speak the same language and starts living with the Uehara family. During the summer holidays, Koichi and Coo go to Tono where legend of kappa remains in order to find other kappa. They cannot find any, and on their return they are met by journalists and sucked into a media frenzy. Whilst the whole of Japan is caught in a mayhem, Kijimuna, a Yokai or a Japanese monster in Okinawa, asks Coo to come and live with him. Coo decides to accept the offer. Although Coo and Koichi are separated physically, the strong bond between the two remains unshaken.
