[ Story ]
Documentary about Okinawa, which saw vicious fighting during the Pacific War, by Japan's Peace Constitution director John Junkerman. Okinawa was the stage for the ground offensive that killed a quarter of the civilian population, and after the war shouldered the burden of US military bases. The documentary is comprised of four parts: "The Battle of Okinawa," "Occupation," "Violation," and "To the Future," and uses interviews of US and Japanese participants to tell the story of recent Okinawan history from the war to the American occupation and Okinawa's return to Japan, leading up to the present.
