[ Story ]
Young and beautiful Chieko meets her twin sister, who informs her that their real parents are dead. The family tragedy stemmed from the old superstition that twins were unlucky and wrong. Chieko has been brought up by a dry goods merchant Sada and his wife, who have often told her that they kidnapped her from an unsuspecting mother. This white lie is intended to spare the child the realization that she was once an unwanted twin. ·
Against the background of various time-honored festivals of Kyoto, an ancient capital, the story depicts the delicate sentiments of a young woman and her twin sister, both roles played by Shima Iwashita. Her sister is mistaken for her so often that Chieko is unable to convince herself that her sweetheart loves her and not the image of her sister.
