[ Story ]

This is a new film version of the famous Yasunari Kawabata novel "Snow Country" which tells of a writer who returns to the hot-spring resort in the north country where he had known a geisha the year before. She is waiting for him and they continue their affair. Her younger sister is jealous, however, and the plot culminates in a hotel fire and death.
