[ Story ]

Nurse Sakura is transferred to the Tientsin Army Hospital during the Sino-Japanese war. She works with the head surgeon in the amputation wards and can do little professionally to help the wounded soldiers. She can, however, offer them love and this she does on her off-hours, giving them something to live for. Then she discovers that the head surgeon is addicted to morphine and this, he believes, has demoralized him. During an enemy attack, however, Nurse Sakura proves him mistaken about himself before nearly all are killed.
