Kikuko, attractive wife of Prof. Miyahara, is beset with dire forebodings that she may be found out concerning her affair with Ikuo, one of her husband's students, through the murder of a taxi driver they both witnessed. Ikuo, too, is conscience-stricken and contemplates going to the police to offer his evidence as a witness, but is held back through fear of implicating Kikuko.
Finally, he can hold back no longer, and tells her that he is going to the police. She is frantic, and he feels that her love is only for herself. He leaves the house and Kikuko follows him to the railway station and finds him standing on the platform. A train roars into the station . . . she pushes him.
People are shouting "Suicide!" She starts to run when two men grasp her...
